Jama Masjid
Jama MasjidJama Masjid has been standing proudly since 15th century. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and is one of the most-visited and largest mosques in the country. The Masjid is positioned opposite to Red Fort, another contribution of Mughals in Old Delhi. Walking along the little gallis (lanes) and markets still gives you a feeling that you are back in time.

Jama Masjid has a capacity of seating around 20,000 people at a time. Do not get lost in the charm of domes and minarets all over the shrine and forget to peek through the top of the tower. It gives you a most amazing view of Delhi.

Birla Mandir
Birla MandirBirla Mandir is more commonly known as the Lakshmi Narayan Temple by the natives. It is positioned in the central part of Delhi, near Mandir Marg. As the name suggests, it was erected by one of the greatest Indian business man, Raja Baldev Das Birla in 1938. The temple is modeled rather in an Orissan style and is dedicated to Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) and Lord Vishnu. This temple was sworn in by Mahatma Gandhi. The gardens are quite exotic looking and are well-maintained.

Nizam-ud-din Shrine
Nizam-ud-din ShrineThis is the final resting place of the renowned sufi saint, Nizam-ud-din Auliya. This tomb is not very far from Humayun’s Tomb. A reservoir is built near the shrine and it is also surrounded by tombs of many other lesser known souls like Amir Khusru, the poet Mirza Ghalib and the grave of the daughter of Shah Jahan. There are many anecdotes regarding the erection of this tank one including a prediction from a saint that Tughlakabad city will never flourish.

This mausoleum is located in the west of Mathura Road in South Delhi. Ever since it was constructed, this tomb has been through many renovations. It was renovated last time in 1562. You can only guess what the original building was like. Every Thursday, this place entertains qawwali performances. Quiet and calm, this area has a tranquilizing effect on the visitors.

ISKCON Temple
ISKCON TempleThis temple is not just a single one, but a huge compound of temples which was built in the year of 1998. It is a monument offered to Lord Krishna and is very large. It is located on a hilly area of the city and is visited by numerous tourists and hundreds of ‘Hare-Rama Hare-Krishna’ devotees. .

Chattarpur Mandir
Chattarpur MandirLocated a bit behind the grand Qutub Minar, Chattarpur Mandir is bestowed to Goddess Durga. According to Hindu Mythology, she is the goddess of Justice. Its architecture has a south Indian style to it. This temple is a complex in itself and covers a vast area full of spectacular lawns and gardens.

The lush greens around the temple have a soothing effect on its visitors. It sees hordes of devotees and tourists everyday especially during the Navarathri (9 nights) festival. The temple provides bus service to make it easier for devotees during this time.

Bala Hanuman Temple

Bala Hanuman TempleBala Hanuman Temple with its 24 hours of the recital of the hymn, 'Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram', has claimed a visible corner in the Guinness Book of World Records. This chant in this graceful temple has started on 1st August in the year of 1964 has not stopped since. It is positioned on the south-eastern part of the Ranmal Lake.

St. James Church
St. James Church is one of its kinds situated near Kashmiri Gate in the northern part of Delhi. It was constructed by James Skinner way back in 19th century (1836). This church is older than any other church in the capital.

With a unique and exquisite cruciform design, it has a biblical impact on the visitors. The entrance faces towards the west and its altar is built in the eastern direction which is a universally accepted form. It has an interesting looking dome which is fashioned on the basis of that of Florence Cathedral in Italy, which was the first such construction in the world. The dome is supported by circular columns in the central part of the church which is in the form of an octagon. There are large entrances with verandas on three sides of the south, west and north side of the building.
